The Red Box Project Niagara is a grassroots organization that supplies free period products and advocates for accessible periods for all students who menstruate. Products are collected through local donation drives and distributed to over 30 schools across Niagara.
We believe that no person should miss school because they have their period.
Actioning proposals for funding is another facet of what we do! In 2020, the District School Board of Niagara approved a $200,000 menstrual equity budget for the English, public schools in the Niagara Region.
In 2021, we received funding from the United Way, to grow our initiative and ensure both the short and long term need is met in our community.
It is most important that our schools are maintaining an inclusive approach to periods. Students of all identities menstruate, and each one deserves to feel seen.
